Just two months after Jill Scott filed for divorce after less than 18 months of marriage, the singer’s estranged husband has fired back with a countersuit.
Earlier this month, Mike Dobson filed a suit against the singer for irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct. In documents obtained by Bossip, Dobson claimed Scott used her large fortune to control him, among other abusive tactics.
Dobson claimed he’d been a victim of Scott’s humiliation and bullying since before the two jumped the broom, which reportedly started with an illegally obtained prenup. According to the publication, Dobson claimed the Philly-bred singer and her legal team coerced him into signing a prenup, without a lawyer.
Dobson also accused Scott of violating the prenup’s confidentiality agreement clause by publicly speaking with the media, which has reportedly catapulted him into a “severe depression.” He has accused Scott of ruining his reputation, causing mental anguish, forcing him into “intensive therapeutic treatment.”
As a result, Dobson is demanding half a million dollars, half of their marital assets and legal fees. He also wants Scott to stop speaking about him and he wants the prenup to be tossed -since he signed it under duress.
