The two-month saga between the Miami Heat and Jimmy Butler is finally over.
ESPN’s Shams Charania first reported that a three-team trade has sent Butler to the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors have sent forward Andrew Wiggins, guard Dennis Schroder, forward Kyle Anderson, and a protected first-round pick in exchange for the star forward.
Reports within NBA circles indicated that Kevin Durant was not interested in a reunion in Golden State. The Golden State Warriors were determined to find another star to pair with Steph Curry this season.
Butler has agreed to a two-year extension worth $121 million. Butler will be a Warrior through the 2026-2027 season. Golden State was determined to not waste the end of their legendary guard’s prime. This move could move the needle for Golden State but it doesn’t immediately put them in contention for the Western Conference championship.
The third team involved in this trade for salary purposes was the Detroit Pistons. Golden State’s Lindy Waters and Josh Richardson of the Miami Heat land in the motor city. Another sharpshooter for Cunningham to get the ball too in Richardson. It will be an interesting press conference.
The Golden State Warriors played tonight and the media availability once the three-team trade was announced ended abruptly. The team had an internal meeting to talk about what had transpired.
Miami Heat fans can breathe easy and the Warriors can see light at the end of the tunnel if the two-way player in Butler can lock in and help Curry, Green, and this team make a push in the second half of the season.
