President Joe Biden calls on New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to resign from office after an investigation concluded he sexually harassed at least 11 women.
When White House reporters asked Biden if he thinks the democratic governor should resign, he answered, “Yes.” He added, “Let’s take one thing at a time here. I think he should resign. I understand the state legislature may decide to impeach. I don’t know that for a fact.”
Biden joined a growing number of politicians calling on Cuomo to resign. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi echoed the same sentiment, along with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and many more.Â
Following months of investigation, the report released by Attorney General Letitia James on Tuesday concluded Cuomo sexually harassed 11 women. James noted that in doing so, Cuomo violated federal and state law. On top of the sexual harassment allegations, the report revealed a hostile work environment and that employees were fearful.Â
Although the findings are “civil in nature,” it is possible the embattled governor could face criminal charges.
After the report was made public, Cuomo vehemently denied any wrongdoing. Instead, he said that his behavior was misinterpreted or mischaracterized.Â
