Joel Osteen has broken his silence following the shooting at his Lakewood Church.
The pastor took to social media to share his thoughts and prayers following the terrifying moment.
“Our community is devastated by today’s events and grateful for the swift actions of law enforcement. May the healing hands of God touch the lives of everyone involved and provide comfort during this difficult time,” Osteen wrote.

The incident took place on Sunday when a woman entered the Texas megachurch wearing a trench coat and backpack. She was armed with a long rifle that several media outlets have reported had a pro-Palestine message written on it. The woman, who was accompanied by a 5-year-old child, began opening fire inside the church. That is when two off-duty officers fatally shot her. She died at the scene. The child was also shot and is listed in critical condition. A church attendee was also stuck by gunfire. It’s unclear what their condition is. At the moment, it is unknown who shot the child and parishioner. The shooter was between 30 and 35 years of age and also claimed she had a bomb at some point during the chaos.
Osteen ended his post with a message of hope, slamming the wickedness of the world.
“In the face of such darkness, we must hold onto our faith and remember evil will not prevail. God will guide us through the darkest of times. Together, we will rise above this tragedy and stand firm in our commitment to love and support one another. In times like these, our faith is tested, but it is also strengthened. We don’t always understand why things like this happen, but we know that God is in control. Please join me in continued prayer for healing and peace,” he concluded.
