Baller Alert caught up with Joey Badass at the Revolt Summit to talk new music, his acting career, fashion and more
It’s been a few years since the multi-talented Joey Badass released music but all that’s about to change. In an exclusive interview, Joey revealed he has a single dropping soon. “My new single is about to come out and hopefully we can deliver by the end of the year,” he said.
In 2022 he plans to release his album and gave us the exclusive on who’s featured on the project. “I’m about to let some cats out the bag but f**k it, I’m excited. I got a joint with Kehlani that’s fire,” he said. Dvsn and Capella Grey will also be featured on the album.
Aside from music, Joey also has a passion for acting. “Acting is my like my side-chick that I fell in love with — and it makes me better for my main-chick,” said Joey after expressing his love for the two. He’s a part of the Academy Award-winning film, “Two Distant Strangers,” played a role in the shows “Wu-Tang: An American Saga” and Starz hit show “Power Book III: Raising Kanan.”
“Some people may not know this but I was a theater student in high school. It’s always been a passion of mine,” said Joey. “I love them both but music will always be my one true love. Acting is just another form of expression.”
Speaking of expression, Joey shared how style is always a way he likes to express himself. “Fashion is an industry but style is the person. I’ve always been expressive and expressing myself through what I wear,” he said.
Joey also told Baller Alert some “Dos” and “Dont’s” in relationships. Being someone who uses multiple outlets to express himself, it’s not a shock that affection is one of his “Dos.”
“I think affection is very important. Showing people that love is needed,” he said. He named “nurture” as something else that’s needed for him in a relationship. “I feel like one of the highest duties as a woman is to nurture. I like for a woman to stand fully in her purpose to nurture.”
He named “lack of accountability and emotional intelligence” as two major red flags for him in a relationship.
