A man was arrested and charged with attempted grand theft auto for attempting to steal John Legend’s car.
According to the LAPD, an unidentified man allegedly tried to steal John’s Porsche on Monday afternoon.
The vehicle was parked outside of a recording studio in Los Angeles when the man approached the car and hopped in. The suspect sat in the car for a while, searching for keys or another way to start the vehicle.
However, security officers at the studio saw the entire attempt on surveillance footage. The guards then called LAPD and went to stop the man from leaving with the vehicle.
The guards asked the man what he was doing, to which he responded that he was the owner of the car. The man must’ve realized he wasn’t convincing enough and got out of the Porsche and started walking away.
Authorities later found the man, but he took off running when they approached him. After a quick foot chase, police were able to take the man into custody.
John’s camp has not spoken out about the incident, but the man was arrested on felony charges of attempted Grand Theft Auto. He is currently being held on $85,000 bail.
