Over the weekend Old Navy posted an ad that featured an interracial couple and a small child. What appeared to be harmless, didn’t sit well with racist Twitter trolls who accused Old Navy of promoting miscegenation and white genocide.
Some of the tweets included things like, “Stop pushing mixed marriages. It’s offensive” and “My family and I will never step into an @OldNavy store again. This miscegenation junk is rammed down our throats from every direction.”
However, it didn’t take long for interracial couples across the world to take notice and combat the negativity by posting lovely photos of their blended families.
One person who joined in the fight was Jack McCain, son of Sen. John McCain. Jack, a Navy pilot, is married to a black, Air Force officer named Renee. “To the people upset about the #OldNavy “Scandal” of an a picture of a mixed race marriage, eat it,” Jack tweeted to those threatening to protest Old Navy over its use of a mixed race family. When a follower tweeted, “So, basically you couldn’t get a white woman,” Jack McCain’s response was perfect.
“She is a strong, fiercely independent, well educated woman, and far more than I deserve.”
And the racists gagged. Go Jack!
