John Singleton’s stroke has launched a feud between his family members, as his daughter claims Singleton’s mother is lying about the movie exec’s welfare.
It was recently reported that Singleton, 51, is in a coma after suffering a stroke last week, according to court documents his mother filed Thursday. Following the announcement, his mother, Sheila Ward, sought to be appointed as temporary conservator to make medical decisions and handle his business affairs, which includes a “lucrative settlement agreement” that was to be signed at the end of the month, court documents state.
However, his daughter, Cleopatra Singleton, claims in new documents that her dad is not in a coma, and says he’s gradually getting better each day. Cleopatra claims Sheila may be conspiring a plot against Singleton, saying she abused her position as Singleton’s personal and business manager, particularly as it pertains to assisting his four children. Cleopatra is a sophomore in college and explained in court documents that Sheila has stated she wants to liquidate Singleton’s assets and leave his kids with no money.
“My father allowed his mother to stay in that position out of fear and obligation to her as she’s bullied and abandoned my father since he was a small child, leaving him emotionally defenseless,” said Cleopatra.
According to TMZ, Cleopatra says Singleton is breathing on his own but is in a medically sedated state. She added that he responds to stimuli and has smiled on many occasions. Cleopatra mentioned medical officials could release the movie producer from ICU in five days.
