Child star, Jojo Siwa, took to her personal Instagram account on Saturday to share and confirm with her fans that she is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community.
Speculation about Jojo’s sexual orientation came into play the other day when Jojo shared a picture of her wearing a T-shirt reading ” BEST. GAY. COUSIN. EVER.” According to TMZ, many took this as her coming out. But, Jojo never confirmed anything until her lengthy Instagram video.
“Personally, I have never, ever, ever been this happy before, and it feels really awesome. I’ve been happy for a little bit now. It’s just so, so, so awesome,” Siwa said before excitedly screaming. “You guys probably haven’t seen me this happy since I was on tour.”
When asked how she identifies, she responded, “I have thought about this, but the reason I’m not going to say this answer is because I don’t really know this answer. I think humans are awesome. I think humans are really incredible people. Right now, I’m super duper happy, and I want to share everything with the world, but I also want to keep things in my life private until they are ready to be public.”
Jojo has received an abundant amount of support from stars such as Ellen DeGeneres and Lil Nas X.
When asked how long she had been apart of the LGBTQ+ community, Jojo replied, “I don’t know. I think my whole life. Because my whole life, I’ve really really been, I just liked people, but I have never fallen in love before. But I always believed that my person was just going to be my person. If that person happened to be a boy, great! And if that person happened to be a girl, great! I think I’m just really happy. I think in life you know when you meet your person, I really do.”
The now 17-year-old, who got her start on Dance Moms, is bound to influence the youth. Her audience with kids is huge, TMZ wrote. “Many think it’ll help children be more comfortable with owning their sexuality since one of their on-screen heroes now has.”
Congrats, Jojo!
