Jonathan Majors briefly appeared in court on Thursday as his domestic assault trial got off to a slow start.
The “Creed 3” star showed up to the Manhattan courthouse clutching a bible with his rumored girlfriend, actress Meagan Good. His defense attorney Priya Chaudhry was also in attendance, though no movement was made during that highly anticipated first day. Instead, a delay was announced due to the prosecution turning in evidence the day before the trial was to begin. The actor will now face the accusations on September 6th.
It’s been months since Majors’ ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari accused him of violently assaulting her. According to Jabbari, Majors broke her finger and cut her ear on March 25th. She’d also claimed that Majors strangled her, though charges related to that have been dropped. Majors still faces misdemeanor assault, aggravated harassment, attempted assault, and harassment. Chaudhry is adamant that multiple pieces of evidence prove Jabbari fabricated her report and even says she should be arrested for being the aggressor toward Majors. The actor has since filed his own domestic assault claim against his ex, though it’s unclear if she will stand trial.
Hollywood has distanced itself from the once prominent entertainer. The management company and PR agency representing him have both dropped him as a client. Marvel has decided to shelve its “Ant-Man” special, which was slated to air on June 14th. Major was also booted from the Otis Redding biopic. A Texas Rangers ad featuring Majors has been scrapped in light of the domestic violence allegations. Majors previously pled not guilty.
