Michael Jordan has warned Dallas Cowboy Dez Bryant to stay out of trouble, and if he doesn’t he won’t get paid. Bryant met Jordan at Jordan’s birthday party during NBA All-Star Weekend in Houston, after Bryant had signed a three-year deal with Jordan Brand, becoming the seventh NFL player to join the apparel group. What Bryant also agreed to, as a sign of good faith, he will not get paid for the first year unless he remains trouble free. If he can do that, he’ll receive the salary in the second year of the deal.
“It just adds fuel to trying to do things great at all times,” Bryant said. “That’s something you don’t want to mess up. Now, I do pay attention to that, just because of the fact of who he is and what he is about. Everybody knows Michael Jordan is about his business, so that make you want to be about yours.”
Honestly, I wish more brands would research the people they put their brand behind, and stop having people endorse them that are obviously not good for the brand’s image. Then maybe they wouldn’t have to go this far. I guess if they MUST give endorsement deals to those with less than squeak clean pasts, this is also a good way to do it.
