Joseph Sherman, reportedly a former bodyguard for Sean “Diddy” Combs, is speaking out against shocking accusations that he participated in a violent assault on a woman over two decades ago. Thalia Graves, the alleged victim, claims she was drugged, bound, and raped by both Combs and Sherman at Diddy’s Daddy’s House recording studio in 2001. The lawsuit, filed recently, has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, but Sherman insists the accusations are completely false.
In a strong statement shared on Instagram, Sherman called the allegations “baseless” and an attack on his character. “These accusations are not only false but damaging to my character,” Sherman said. “I have never met the accuser, and I was not working with Sean Combs during the time in question. I will be pursuing legal action to address this defamation and protect my name.”
Sherman’s attorney, Antoinette Williams, confirmed that legal steps are already being taken. “We stand by Mr. Sherman’s innocence and are taking swift legal action to address this fraudulent claim,” she stated. “This false accusation is clearly an attempt to exploit the current situation involving Mr. Combs. We are pursuing a defamation lawsuit against all parties involved in these allegations and will ensure that Mr. Sherman’s rights are fully protected under the law.”
Sherman, who transitioned from being a bodyguard to working in artist management and publishing, emphasized that he has always conducted himself with professionalism and integrity. He believes he’s being unfairly targeted because of his past association with Combs, who has been facing a slew of legal troubles recently.
Sherman further elaborated on his frustration during an interview with the Daily Mail, claiming he’s being dragged into a situation he has nothing to do with. “I’ve never seen this person before in my life. I can swear on it, but my word means nothing,” Sherman said, expressing his frustration over the impact of the accusations. “The problem with this right now is, no matter what people like me say, Diddy is in such turmoil and everybody who was ever around him is being blamed for anything he did. Anyone who was around him is automatically guilty.”
He continued, “Because I’m a Black man, they’re using me as a pawn and a scapegoat for issues that I had nothing to do with whatsoever.” Sherman also made it clear that he is willing to take a lie detector test to prove his innocence, stating, “I can take a lie detector test any day of the week with any office of the law.”
The lawsuit claims that Sherman was involved in the assault on Graves and that footage of the incident was recorded and distributed without her consent. It also alleges a pattern of similar non-consensual recordings involving other women. Sherman vehemently denies these claims, asserting that he never engaged in such behavior and that his career in the adult entertainment industry was being twisted to paint a false narrative.
“I have been crucified before by the government. I understand the power of the government. I understand proof is irrelevant when you’re a Black man in America,” Sherman said, highlighting his belief that he is being unjustly targeted due to systemic issues.
Sherman, who founded the adult magazine Rhymes N Dimes, was mentioned in the lawsuit as someone who had distributed tapes of sexual assaults through his business. He insists that his magazine and his work in the adult industry have no connection to the accusations against him and Combs.
As he fights to clear his name, Sherman remains focused on his legal battle and his family, stating, “I’m a father. I have four daughters. I would never be involved in something like this.” He hopes the legal process will reveal the truth and bring an end to what he describes as a “shakedown.”
With the legal proceedings just beginning, Sherman is preparing to defend himself against what he calls a “clear attempt at a money grab.” He urged the public to remain patient, stating on social media, “Some of you may not understand there’s two sides to every story. My publicist and lawyers are not allowing me to put up my side. They said they want to hold my evidence and everything for bigger days, so I’m hoping y’all can be patient.”
The coming months will likely see this legal drama unfold further, as Sherman seeks to clear his name in court and bring attention to what he sees as a deeply unfair attack on his character.
