“Basketball Wives” cast member Brittish Williams has dodged jail time in her highly publicized fraud case.
Last year, Williams was indicted on misuse of a social security number, four charges of bank fraud, three charges of wire fraud, three counts of making false statements to the IRS, and three charges of aggravated identity theft. The indictment claims the 31-year-old used fake social security numbers to obtain lines of credit and loans from several banks in 2017. She is also accused of depositing counterfeit checks into bank accounts without the account holder’s knowledge and withdrawing the money before banks could realize the checks were fraudulent.
Williams has remained on bond but was ordered to wear an ankle monitor. However, in recent court documents, Williams says the ankle monitor is interfering with her day-to-day life. The influencer explained that the ankle monitor had gotten in the way of filming scenes for “Basketball Wives.” Producers are not pleased with having to accommodate the monitor on set.
Williams told the court that the ankle monitor also made her miss out on a $30,000 Savage x Fenty opportunity. Williams explained that the company cut ties with her because the ankle monitor showed during lingerie and pajama set photoshoots.
Prosecutors were not buying it. In response to her request, they accused the 32-year-old of violating a court order and requested that her bond be revoked. They also accused Williams of traveling across state lines without permission which is not hard to believe, given that the show films in other locations at times.
Despite pleas from prosecutors to lock up Williams immediately, a judge agreed with Williams and allowed the tracking device to be removed for the time being. This move comes as Williams faces yet another fraud case related to a car accident.
Williams has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
