Young Thug’s legal problems continue, and it’s not looking good for him.
His lawyer, Brian Steel, just filed another motion for a mistrial, pointing to hearsay evidence presented by the prosecution. But once again, Judge Paige Reese Whitaker didn’t have it.
On Monday, Whitaker let her frustration show. “I can’t figure out what it is,” she said, clearly unimpressed. “But it is baffling to me that somebody with your years of experience, time after time, seems to purposefully hide the ball as long as you possibly can.”
After a short recess, Judge Whitaker officially shut down the mistrial motion.
Steel tried to push back, reminding everyone that the case had problems before Whitaker took over. But the judge wasn’t buying it, calling it “poor lawyering” rather than intentional misconduct.
You know the YSL trial has been wild if you’ve been keeping up. Young Thug, Gunna, and a bunch of others were charged with RICO back in 2022, and the trial started in November 2023 after a crazy-long jury selection that took 10 months.
