An MSNBC freelancer was spotted by police following the jury bus from the Kenosha, WI courthouse where Kyle Rittenhouse is being tried for murder.
The man, who identified himself as James J. Morrison, claimed that he was instructed by his supervisor, MSNBC producer Irene Byon, to follow the jury bus. Police believe that he was trying to photograph jury members.
MSNBC said in a statement that “the freelancer never contacted or intended to contact the jurors during deliberations, and never photographed or intended to photograph them.”
Still, Judge Bruce Schroeder has banned all MSNBC staff from entering the courthouse for the remainder of the trial. Judge Schroeder told the court today that “this is an extremely serious matter, and will be referred to the proper authorities for further action.”
