Just weeks after Juelz Santana proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Kimbella, the Harlem-bred rapper has been sentenced to more than two years in federal prison.
On Wednesday, a judge sentenced Santana to 27 months in federal prison, and one year of supervised release after the stint for accidentally bringing a gun to Newark Airport in March.
In the incident, as Santana attempted to pass through the security checkpoint at the airport, TSA found a two-shot .38 caliber Derringer pistol in his bag. But, upon the discovery, Santana ditched the bags and fled the scene.
Two months later, Santana was charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and one count of carrying a weapon on an aircraft. Although both charges carried a maximum sentence of 10 years, Santana pleaded guilty, in an attempt to serve a sentence between two and five years.
Lucky for Santana, the sentencing judge complied with the agreement and handed down 27 months.
