Julian Assange, the founder of Wikileaks, had two secret children with his lawyer while he was hiding out in the Ecuadorian embassy in London for seven years.
According to the Daily Mail, Assange began dating lawyer Stella Morris in 2015. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Morris says their first son Gabriel was born in 2017, and their second son Max was born last year. Both births were reportedly filmed on a GoPro, and the footage was then sent to Assange.
Apparently, British rapper M.I.A. is the children’s godmother.
At the time of Gabriel’s birth, Assange had been at the Ecuadorian embassy for four years, evading extradition to the U.S. and Sweden to face charges.
“I love Julian deeply, and I am looking forward to marrying him,” Morris told the Daily Mail. “At the beginning, it was a working relationship. I was in the embassy every day, and Julian became a friend.
“I have lived quietly and privately, raising Gabriel and Max on my own and longing for the day we could be together as a family.”
Assange and Morris first met in 2011, and she helped defend him against rape allegations in Sweden. Those charges were dropped.
The Wikileaks founder lived in the embassy up until last year when he was arrested. He is now in prison in London.
Morris said she is speaking out because she believes Assange is at risk of contracting coronavirus behind bars.
