The search for British actor Julian Sands has come to an end with authorities announcing they’ve discovered his remains.
The Ocean’s Thirteen entertainer was initially reported missing on January 13th at 7:30 p.m. when he never returned from his hike in Mt. Baldy in the San Gabriel Mountains, which sits in San Bernardino County. Officials traced his cell phone to the area. An extensive pursuit was launched on January 18th, though rough weather conditions and an avalanche risk thwarted the measures. Months later, there were renewed search efforts, but they did not find any trace of him until  June 24th, when hikers located remains in the wilderness. Sadly, on Tuesday, June 27th, the San Fernando Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the remains were that of Sands.
Shortly after his disappearance in January, his older brother Nick admitted that he believed his brother had passed away.
“He has not yet been declared missing, presumed dead, but I know in my heart that he has gone,” Nick shared.
Sands’ best-known movie roles include Warlock and Arachnophobia. His television career is even more extensive, having appeared in over 100 onscreen roles in shows such as Smallville, Ghost Whisperer, and Blood Ties, to name a few.
Sands is survived by his wife, journalist Evgenia Citkowitz, daughters Imogen Morley and Natalya Morley, and a son, whom he had from his previous wife, Henry. Several days before Sands’ remains we located, his family released a statement thanking authorities for continuing their investigation, despite hazardous conditions.
