Jury Reaches Verdict In Zimmerman Trial + What You Can Do To Support Trayvon Martin

As I’m sure many of you know, a verdict was reached last night in the George Zimmerman murder trial and Zimmerman was found not guilty of all charges. Whether it was the prosecutions inability to prove beyond an reasonable doubt or a terrible stand your ground law that led to the conviction, a 17 year old boy lost his life and now he is the only person who has had to pay for it.

A few people have suggested things like rioting and boycotting the state of Florida. While I commend you for wanting to take a stand, both of these suggestions are not the best route. Rioting won’t do anything but get YOU thrown in jail and boycotting Florida is useless. It wasn’t the actual state of Florida that was responsible. It was a combination of a dumb law, a poor prosecution, a stupid jury and a terrible legal system that failed Trayvon. Here’s what you CAN do, at least to start.

We can still seek justice for Trayvon Martin by signing the NAACP petition to the Department of Justice. This will help the Martin family with bringing forth a civil suit against Zimmerman. Although he was deemed not criminally responsible for Trayvon’s death, that doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t be held accountable and shouldn’t have to PAY! Zimmerman received millions of money from his supporters and that money belongs to Trayvon Martin’s parents. Is it justice? Well, we tried that. This is a great start. Hit the man in his pockets.

Sign the NAACP Dept of Justice petition at http://bit.ly/14PXbDI or if that link doesn’t work try http://ow.ly/mWDfp  . Sign both if you have to. Spread the word. March peacefully. Let the world know that killing an innocent black child will NOT be tolerated.
