According to TMZ, former “Empire” actor Jussie Smollet is ready to clap back against the City of Chicago with a lawsuit of his own. This comes after Chi-Town reportedly filed a lawsuit against him to cover the costs of investigating what they believe was a fake “attack” the actor orchestrated against himself.
TMZ reports that legal docs show the City of Chicago wants around a half a million dollars for different costs associated with investigating Jussie’s claim that he was the victim of a homophobic and racist attack last January.
Smollet says he’s seriously considering filing a lawsuit against the Windy City, “for their conduct underlying the arrest and their conduct thereafter.”
Reports also state that both sides feel the earliest they will be ready for trial, initiated by the city’s suit, is June 2020. They estimate the trial would take two or three days to complete.
