Jussie Smollett wants the city of Chicago’s lawsuit against him thrown out, calling it unfair and unwarranted.
Smollett filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit Chicago filed for a reimbursement on the cost of the investigation into the alleged racist and homophobic attack. According to the documents obtained by TMZ, Smollett maintained that he is innocent but argued that even if he were lying, that still would not mean he is responsible for paying for the police department’s investigation, claiming there is no way he could anticipate the cost of the case.
However, Chicago claims the investigation cost a total of $130,000 just in overtime. In addition to that, the city also wants Smollett to cover its lawyer fees, and wants punitive damages. But, the actor is demanding that the entire case be thrown out.
