Justin Bieber has taken to social media to speak out against racism in an Instagram post.
Bieber admitted in his post that he is guilty of using racial slurs in the past.
“When I was young, I was uneducated and found myself saying really hurtful things, not knowing the power of my words,” he wrote in an Instagram post-Tuesday. “Racism is still prevalent, and I want to use my voice to remind that we are all human beings and all of EQUAL VALUE BEFORE GOD!”
Back in 2014, a video of Bieber using the N-word and making racist jokes came to light.
It was reported that Beiber was a teenager during the time of the video. His team released a statement to Page Six, saying, “Justin realized it was wrong and went to Usher and Will Smith, who helped educate him. He’s now a 20-year-old who’s taken responsibility.”
Although Beiber and his team issued apologies, another racist video came to light showing Beiber changing his lyrics of his song “One Less Lonely Girl” to “One Less Lonely N—r” and making jokes about the Ku Klux Klan.
In a different post, the singer set some goals for himself heading into the holiday season.
“I’m determined this holiday season to take ownership of all my shortcomings and work on them for myself and the ones I love,” he wrote.
