Fourteen years later, and the infamous #JustinTimberlake and #JanetJackson “Nipplegate” incident still seems to resurface every once in a while.
Upon the announcement that Timberlake would be returning to headline this year’s Super Bowl LII halftime show in February, the Tennessee-born singer recently sat down with Beats 1 Radio’s Zane Lowe to discuss that and more.
As we all remember, Timberlake and Jackson’s “Rock Your Body” duet performance during the 2004 Super Bowl XXXVIII’s halftime show became the most talked-about moment in Super Bowl history.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The performance quickly sparked a media frenzy when Timberlake accidentally revealed Jackson’s boob to millions of viewers around the world… on national television.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, over a decade after the controversial “wardrobe malfunction”, Timberlake briefly opened up about the unfortunate situation, and he says that it was actually a learning experience.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I stumbled through it, to be honest. I had my wires crossed,” he tells Lowe. “It’s just something that you have to look back on and go like, ‘Okay, well, you can’t change what’s happened, but you can move forward and learn from it.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Throughout the years, he admits that he and Jackson were able to make amends, but he didn’t speak much about it because he didn’t feel that he needed to.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I don’t know that a lot of people know that. I don’t think it’s my job to do that because you value the relationships that you do have with people.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Currently, Timberlake is prepping for the unveiling of his fifth studio album, ‘Man of the Woods’, which is set to release on February 2nd.
