Justin Timberlake to Accept Plea Deal in Hamptons DWI Case, Agree to Lesser Charge

Justin Timberlake is expected to enter a new plea this Friday in his drunk driving case from June in the Hamptons.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s office confirmed that the singer and actor will appear in person at Sag Harbor Village Court. While details of the new plea have not been disclosed, a source familiar with the situation revealed that Timberlake is likely to plead guilty to a lesser offense than the original charge of driving while intoxicated. The source spoke on the condition of anonymity since they were not authorized to discuss the case publicly. Timberlake’s attorney, Edward Burke, has declined to comment on the matter.

Timberlake was arrested on June 18 after reportedly running a stop sign and veering out of his lane in Sag Harbor, a popular village in New York’s Hamptons. Police stated that when Timberlake exited his BMW, he appeared to be under the influence, with bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and an odor of alcohol. Officers said he performed poorly on sobriety tests conducted at the scene. Timberlake told the officer that he had only one martini and was following friends home. After his arrest, he spent the night in custody at a local police station.

At a hearing last month, Timberlake pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge. The judge temporarily suspended his right to drive in New York pending further proceedings. Throughout the case, his lawyer has maintained that Timberlake was not intoxicated and has called for the charges to be dismissed.
