Justin Timberlake will receive special recognition at the 50th annual induction of the Songwriters Hall of Fame next month.
According to Billboard, Timberlake has been selected as a “Contemporary Icon.” The honor is given to a “songwriter-artist who has attained an iconic status in pop culture.” In fact, Timberlake is the first male and second artist ever to receive the award. Lady Gaga was the first recipient in 2015.
The ten-time Grammy-award winner’s solo catalog is full of hits such as “Cry Me a River,” “SexyBack” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” all of which he co-wrote. Timberlake’s songwriting skills go back to his N’Sync era, penning “Gone,” “Girlfriend,” and “Pop” for the group.
The official ceremony will be held on June 13 in New York. Other inductees of the 2019 Songwriters Hall of Fame include Missy Elliott, Cat Stevens, John Prine, Tom T. Hall, Jack Tempchin and Dallas Austin.
