Justin Tuck Retires From NFL, Will Pursue MBA at Wharton – blogged by @LoveRubyWoo

As of Friday, defensive end Justin Tuck is officially retired from the NFL. Tuck, who spent nine seasons and won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants before signing with the Oakland Raiders in 2014, wanted to retire as a Giant. He signed a one-day contract with the team that first drafted him and formally announced his retirement in a press conference on Friday afternoon.

However, Tuck doesn’t think of it as retirement, but rather as a transition, he says. Tuck now wants to pursue an MBA degree at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has already been accepted to the school and will begin classes this fall.

Tuck leaves his football career behind as one of the Giants’ best defensive ends ever and one of the team’s greatest leaders. Before he left, he had a message for the newest members of the Giants organization. “Nothing is given to you,” he told the newly drafted Giants rookies. “Nothing’s ever given to you. You could be the strongest and meanest and best ever, but you’ve always got to come in here and you’ve got to fight. And that’s for our rookies. I hope they see that. Always come in here and fight.”
