Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade’s Daughter, Kaavia James, Debuts Her Clothing Line

Black excellence has no age limit! Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade’s daughter, Kaavia James, debut her clothing line with fashion brand, Janie and Jack.

On February 2nd, Janie and Jack launched Kaavia’s collection on their website and select stores. The collection includes plenty of bright colors and features a few traditional African prints, just in time for Black History Month.

Kaavia’s line includes more than 40 styles for children, sizes six months to 18 years. The line will feature designs for gender-neutral pieces and will range from $10.50-$74.

Many people may think Union and Wade chose the clothing pieces and included their daughter’s name. But according to Gabby, Kaavia has had her hands in the decision-making process.

“When we were designing this line, people were like, ‘How does a child participate in the fashion process?’ But when we whittled down our ideas between the Janie and Jack design team and me and my husband, we showed [Kaavia] the French Terry [styles], we showed her the triple-tier ruffles and the prints,” Union says.

Gabby continued that Kaavia had no problem voicing her opinion on some of the pieces.

“There were things that we loved that she was like, ‘No.’ And we didn’t force any of it on her. If she didn’t like it, that was it.”

Along with picking out fashion pieces, Kaavia starred in the campaign with her BFF, Crosby Sparrow, son of actress Nicole Lyn and basketball player Chad Easterling. The two posed for the gender-neutral “best friends forever” set.

According to Gabby, the family wanted to make sure that the campaign’s theme reflected a diverse and inclusive worldview.

“Our world is very, very inclusive. And we just wanted to make sure that if we’re doing a campaign called ‘The World of Joy’—imagine that it looks like the world.”
