Philadelphia police have made a major development in the disappearance of 23-year-old Kada Scott, arresting a suspect they say is connected to her case. But the search for Scott and a key vehicle tied to her disappearance continues.
Authorities confirmed that 21-year-old Keon King of Southwest Philadelphia has been charged with kidnapping. Police say King was the last person in contact with Scott before she vanished on October 4 after leaving her job at a senior living facility in Chestnut Hill.
Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore said, “Our evidence is pretty clear that she was in communication with an individual, that individual appears to meet her very shortly after she leaves her place of work, and very shortly after that, she disappears.”
Investigators discovered physical evidence linking Scott to an abandoned Germantown school following a tip from the public. Crews used K-9s and crime scene units to comb the area.
Police are now searching for a 1999 metallic gold Toyota Camry with Pennsylvania plates MSX0797.
“We believe she may have been in that vehicle,” said Assistant District Attorney Ashley Toczylowski.
Officials revealed that King has a prior kidnapping and strangulation case that will be refiled. Meanwhile, Scott’s family and community continue to search and urge anyone with information to call 215-686-TIPS.
“We are treating this as if Ms. Scott is still alive,” Vanore emphasized. “The number one priority is locating Ms. Scott.”
