Superstar streamer Kai Cenat is disappointed in the way his fans overtook New York’s Union Square last week.
The 21-year-old has finally broken his silence on the chaos that took place on August 4th. During Wednesday’s Twitch stream, Cenat explained that he had no intention of leading his fans down a path of destruction.
“Beyond disappointed in anybody who became disruptive that day, bro,” she said on his stream.
Massive waves of fans showed up after Cenat summoned them to the location. He’d announced that he would be hosting a giveaway of PlayStation 5’s and other goods. Thousands of his supporters swarmed the area, and for whatever, violence ensued. Cars were damaged when his fans stood on hoods and windows. Objects were being thrown, and even public buses were destroyed when fans climbed on top of them. About 65 attendees were arrested, with at least four people seeking medical attention at nearby hospitals. It doesn’t appear that any PlayStations were actually given out that fateful day. One video has spread online showing Cenat desperately trying to help a fan who was hysterically crying and presumably having a panic attack of some kind amidst the chaos. During the Twitch stream, he pledged to speak with local authorities to properly organize future giveaways.
However, he is still facing charges of felony first-degree rioting, misdemeanor inciting a riot, and unlawful assembly. If convicted, he could face up to four years behind bars and hefty fines.
“None of that is cool, bro,” he added on Twitch.
