Senator Kamala Harris announced her 2020 presidential bid.
“I love my country. I love my country,” Harris of California stated on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Monday. “This is a moment in time when I feel a sense of responsibility to stand up and fight.”
Harris has been on a national tour to advocate her book, “ The Truth We Hold: An American Journey,” and released a video declaring her presidential campaign and profiling why she’s running.
“The future of our country depends on you and millions of others lifting our voices to fight for our American values. That’s why I’m running for president of the United States,” Harris stated in the video, named “Kamala Harris: For the People.” “I’m running to lift those voices. To bring our voices together.”
Harris, 54, joins a chain of Democrats who have already made known, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, and previous Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro.
