Andy Cohen has apologized to Kandi Burruss for asking her daughter Riley Burruss a very touchy question about her dad.
The issue arose during an episode of “Watch What Happens Live” last month. As 19-year-old Riley was filling in as bartender for the show, Cohen asked her about the current status of her and her father, music producer Russell “Block” Spencer.
“Has your relationship with your dad improved at all?” Cohen asked. Riley responded calmly, “I don’t remember the last time I spoke to him, so that answers that question.” Though Riley appeared to address the query well, the question irritated her mother, who has been vocal about Spencer failing to do more for the teen. Riley has also voiced concerns about her father’s absence during episodes of “Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
Last month, Burruss voiced her disdain about the moment with Cohen during an interview on “The Slut Pig Podcast.”
“I didn’t say anything to him about it, but I didn’t really like when he brought up my daughter’s father to her on camera on ‘Live,'” Kandi said at the time. She also praised her daughter for handling it well.
During Sunday’s chat with E! News, the 46-year-old revealed that the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” executive producer apologized for asking such a personal question. Burruss said Cohen said he was not intentionally trying to hurt the mother and daughter. She also stated she didn’t believe he was trying to be malicious.
“A lot of people just don’t understand that’s a sensitive subject for her … but sometimes if you don’t give a person a heads up, they kind of get caught off guard. And so that’s what I was saying,” the “Legs, Hips & Body” singer explained.
Riley herself has not responded publicly about the incident.
