Over the weekend, Kanye West launched a pop-up shop in NYC to sell merchandise for his The Life of Pablo album. The shop was a surprise that Kanye let his fans know about through Twitter a day prior to its opening. From afar, the shop, which was open Friday through Sunday, seemed like it was a huge success. On Saturday morning, hundreds of fans began waiting in line at 3 AM in anticipation for the shop’s opening at noon. The hundreds eventually turned into thousands, as the streets of SoHo were lined with people waiting anxiously to buy Pablo merchandise.
On top of the great turnout by fans, the event was a financial success as well. According to Kanye, the pop-up shop made $1 million over the course of two days. The pop-up shop sold t-shirts, hoodies, beanies, and more, all representing some aspect of the rapper’s latest album and ranging anywhere from $40 to $400. “They called me crazy and pointed fingers,” he tweeted on Tuesday. “But there is no other brand that could sell 1 million dollars of clothing in 2 days from 1 location!!!”
Call him crazy but it looks like Kanye is getting the last laugh this time around.
