Kanye West is starting the year off with a $600,000 lawsuit, as Japanese fabric supplier, Toki Sen-I Co, claims the rapper never paid for fabric he acquired for his sneaker line. In addition, the company says West tried to deceive them by creating a fake company so that he wouldn’t have to pay what he owed. Say it ain’t so!
Toki Sen-I Co filed the lawsuit against West personally, as well as Yeezy Apparell, LLC., as they believe Kanye operates Yeezy Apparel to prevent himself from being personally liable.
Toki Sen says in early 2016, they went into business with Kanye to deliver samples for upcoming Yeezy sneakers and everything went smoothly. However, in 2018, Kanye placed a large fabric order that the company expected a down payment for, but he didn’t pay. Due to good history, the company didn’t press Kanye for payment immediately…but they claim he told them later on that he would not be paying for the fabric at all.
The company says they are owed $624,051 for the fabric and have offered numerous payment plans. Tiki Sen also claims Kanye’s company, ‘Yeezy Apparel,’ is a “shell” and a “sham” without capital assets or member interest.
