Kanye West is expanding his Yeezy x Gap line thanks to Balenciaga. Ye announced today that his project, Yeezy Gap will feature some inspiration from longtime friend, Balenciaga designer, Demna Gvasalia.
Gvasalia aka Demna goes way back with Ye. The designer has influenced Ye’s recent wardrobe choices and his ex-wife’s. Kim Kardashian has been all over the brand sporting all monotone looks dressed head to toe, her Met Gala look and Saturday Night Live debut were both Balenciaga outfits.
The press release addresses the inspiration behind the collaboration. “This first of its kind launch sees Ye’s peerless vision bring together the most influential designer of his generation, Demna, with iconic American brand, Gap.”
The rapper recently gifted his new girlfriend, Julia Fox, with a suite full of clothes featuring Balenciaga.
Demna told Vogue, “There are very few people that I know, especially of Ye’s caliber, who really understand my work so well. He makes me come out of my comfort zone and be a better designer.”
In 2020, the Sunday Service performer signed a 10-year deal with Gap. He typically releases small collections of items like the $200 puffer jacket and $90 hoodie that instantly sold out.
Ye is famously known for his line with Adidas and Yeezy. The line has the trending foam runner slides and latest insulated cushion boots.
Expect to see some new clothes in June 2022 from Yeezy x Gap x Balenciaga.
