There’s a lot to unpack from Kanye West’s Drink Champs interview, and clips from the interview have been making the rounds on social media, garnering strong reactions.
Throughout the interview, Ye continues with his anti-Semitic tropes. After going on a rant about Jewish people, the rapper perpetuates the notion that Jewish people control the media.
“The Jewish media blocked me out,” Ye claims. “I’m lit. I’m lit,” he repeats several times.
The comments come after Ye had his accounts restricted by Instagram and Twitter for anti-Semitic posts. In a now-deleted Instagram post, the business mogul posted a screenshot of a text message between him and Diddy, claiming he will use Diddy “as an example to show the Jewish people that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me.”
After being restricted on Instagram, Ye moved to Twitter, where he threatened to go “death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.” Ye mentioned the comment during the Drink Champs interview, admitting that he spelled “def con” incorrectly.
Ye also talked about rejecting an offer from American Apparel founder Dov Charney to visit the Holocaust Museum in Los Angeles. Instead, the rapper told Charney, “I want you to visit a Planned Parenthood. That’s our Holocaust museum.”
Charney’s offer came on the heels of West’s “White Lives Matter” t-shirts and the company’s decision not to release them. West blamed it on Charney being Jewish.
“This is my exact point: Jewish people have owned the Black voice, whether it’s through us wearing a Ralph Lauren shirt or all of us being signed to a record label or having a Jewish manager or being signed to a Jewish basketball team or doing a movie on a Jewish platform like Disney,” he said.
Ye’s comments have been condemned by the American Jewish Committee, Democratic members of Congress, and Jewish organizations.
Jewish people are not the only targets of West’s ire. He’s recently railed against Adidas, Pete Davidson, Diddy, and more. He repeats the claim that the Kardashians have kidnapped his children and no celebrities have come to his defense. And he claimed that George Floyd died of a fentanyl overdose instead of asphyxiation due to Derek Chauvin’s knee.
His recent comments have left many wondering why West is still being given a platform for his rants.
