Kanye West went on yet another Twitter rant, and this time he’s demanding ownership of the masters to his songs.
In an early morning rant on Wednesday, Ye called out Universal Music Group for reportedly not telling him how much his masters cost, claiming it’s because the music execs know he has the money to buy them.
“UNIVERSAL WONT TELL ME WHAT MY MASTERS COST BECAUSE THEY KNOW I CAN AFFORD TO BUY THEM,” he tweeted.
“Everyone, please cover me in prayer … I AM ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS PEOPLE ON THE PLANET, AND UNIVERSAL WONT TELL ME WHAT MY MASTERS COST BECAUSE THEY KNOW I CAN AFFORD THEM … BLACK MASTERS MATTER,” he said in another tweet.
He went on to say that people in the music industry are involved in “modern-day slavery” but says he forgives them.
The rant actually started Tuesday night, with Kanye saying again that slavery is a choice while revealing a large wall he’s constructing around his LA home.
” In the streaming world master ownership is everything….this is the bulk of the income….in COVID artist need our masters… it’s more important than ever before I got J Cole number waiting for Kendrick and Drake,” he said.” Che Pope got Dave Free’s number … will have Kendrick’s number shortly … I’ll keep you guys updated. Remember they cut our tongues when we were on the boat … but noooooow…. slaaaaaavery iiiiiiiiis aaaaaaaaa chooooooooice.”
Ye also claimed he made “multi-billions” outside of music and wants to make it so musicians can make billions “inside of music” by owning the rights to their own songs.
The rapper later discussed contracts and said he signed ten contracts with Universal, before publishing PDFs of them and telling “every lawyer in the world” to look at them.
“I KNOW MY LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST WILL MAKE FOOLS OF AND PUNISH ALL WHO HAVE PARTICIPATED IN UNFAIR CONTRACTS, “he wrote.
He also added that there is “no NBA or music industry without black people … fair contracts matter … ownership matters.”
“I need everyone’s prayers … I promise we will be free and own our masters, but we must be faithful to God this time,” West said.” ‘No more killing each other. No more threatening to take each other’s girls and wives … let’s show the world how great we truly are. We are God’s chosen people.”
” The artist deserve to own our masters … artist are starving without tours … Ima go get our masters … for all artist … pray for me,” he said.” ‘I don’t wanna see no woke tweets or hear no woke raps … it’s show time … it’s a whole different energy right now.”
This comes on the day his wife Kim Kardashian, and other celebs have vowed to not use social media to protest the spread of misinformation.
