Kanye West and Deadmau5, two of TIDAL’s original artist owners, are beefing on Twitter. What a time to be alive. It all started when Kanye posted a photo of his computer screen to share with fans that he was listening to Sufjan Stevens’ “Death With Dignity.” Unfortunately, Yeezy forgot to close out his browser tabs it didn’t take long for people to notice that not only was he illegally ripping the Sufjan Stevens audio from Youtube, he was also illegally torrenting $200 producer software, Serum. A big no-no for someone who’s been pushing fans to legally stream his music on TIDAL.
Deadmau5, a fellow producer, took to Twitter to call Kanye out. “What the fuck @kanyewest … Can’t afford serum? Dick,” tweeted Deadmau5, who is largely known for DJ’ing huge EDM parties while wearing an oversized mouse head. Deadmau5 then poked fun at Kanye’s alleged debt status by saying, “Let’s start a Kickstarter to help @kanyewest afford a copy of Serum. He needs a small loan of $200#prayforyeezy.”
We all know Twitter has become Kanye’s playground, so it didn’t take long before he fired back. Though he didn’t acknowledge whether or not he was participating in pirating music and software, he did have a few questions of his own for Deadmau5. “ok very serious question,” he began. “whose job is it to carry the head on the plane. do you check the mickey mouse head or carry on? does it get hot? ok another super serious question … is there a portable fan situation?“
The jokes didn’t stop there though! “When you get married will your wife have a giant minnie mouse head?” He even brought baby Nori into the mix. “Do you do birthday parties?? My daughter loves Minnie mouse. Can you please bring the minnie mouse head … not yours she specifically likes minnie mouse. I’m very detailed oriented and I will know the difference so don’t try to just throw a bow on the original head.”
Kanye is definitely ripping at Deadmau5 over being called out. Jay Z’s gotta come fix this!
