Multiple artists were the victim of a YouTube hack that found their channels bombarded with unauthorized videos.
Drake, Justin Bieber, Eminem, Kanye West, Lil Nas X, Michael Jackson, and Taylor Swift were among the artists who had their YouTube channels compromised early Tuesday morning. Videos were uploaded to “Vevo artist channels” by an “unauthorized source.” All of the hacker videos have since been deleted.
Many of the videos had strange titles and context. One of which was titled “Justin Bieber – Free Paco Sanz (ft. Will Smith, Chris Rock, Skinny flex & Los Pelaos).” Paco Sanz is a fraudster who scammed thousands of people by pretending to be terminally ill. In the clip, he was seen holding a guitar and singing in Spanish. In another video posted to singer Harry Styles‘ account, a group of men wearing hoodies were dancing to an adapted version of “Hit the Road Jack.”
While Vevo is conducting a thorough security review, they have not announced who is responsible for the hack. However, Twitter user @lospelaosbro claimed responsibility for the hacks and went on to share several of the quirky videos that appeared on the celebrity channels. The user even claimed to have Coi Leroy’s and Post Malone’s nudes.
Nevertheless, it appears that for now, the YouTube hack has blown over until the savvy hacker decides to wreak havoc again.
