Kanye West, in true West fashion, surprised everyone Wednesday night when he made an appearance at Drake’s Summer Sixteen concert in Chicago. He came out on stage to perform their collab hit “Pop Style” before performing the controversial “Famous”. Before he did though, West addressed all of the drama surrounding the “Famous” track, giving thanks to his wife for exposing the truth.
“All I gotta say is, I am so glad my wife has Snapchat, because now y’all can know the truth and can’t nobody talk sh*t about ‘Ye no more,” West said.
If you are unaware, which I’m sure you aren’t, Kanye and Taylor Swift are in the midst of the longest standing celebrity feud of our time, which started many moons ago when he interrupted Swift’s MTV acceptance speech in 2009. For the most part, the feud was pretty uninteresting, until West mentioned Taylor on his The Life Of Pablo single, “Famous”. The specific lyrics are: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b*tch famous.”
West assured the media that he called the pop star prior to making the song to receive her “blessing”. Swift however, adamantly denied having knowledge or giving consent.
We NOW know the rapper actually did call her, thanks to his wife, Kim Kardashian-West, who captured the entire call on Snapchat. She warned us about the footage in her GQ profile last month, but released the actual recording a few weeks ago.
Swift responded by calling the song “character assassination” adding “I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative, one that I have never asked to be a part of, since 2009.”
