Kanye West is shedding light on how he got involved in the latest Drake beef.
The Yeezy creator dropped a remix of Future, Metro Boomin, and Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That.“ Following in Lamar’s footsteps, West also used the beat to go at Drake.
“Y’all so outta sight, outta mind (Outta sight)/ I can’t even think of a Drake line (N***a, who?)/ Play J. Cole, get the pussy dry (I’m a god),“ Ye rapped.
Some people have wondered how Ye got involved with Future and Metro’s issues with Drake. When speaking with friend and podcaster Justin La Boy, West likened the disses to a takedown of sorts. According to him, after being summoned by Future, they went through “the creative process.“
“Everybody was very, very excited about the elimination of Drake. Not excited, we was energized,“ West explained to the content creator.

West also provided some insight into how things took a turn for him and his one-time collaborator after their December 2021 Free Larry Hoover concert. There, the men came together for a performance that was supposed to bring awareness to the incarcerated gang member who is serving multiple life sentences. After the show, West suggests Drake enjoyed feuding with him.
“It cuts Drake’s soul; it’s like he signed his soul to the devil to not be cool with me…This is his job, to go against God, and it cuts his soul,“ West explained.

Despite what West means by the “go against God“ explanation, it’s clear these two will likely never be lasting friends, as their feud dates back to at least September 2010, when Drake was allegedly spotted hanging out in a club with West’s former girlfriend, Amber Rose, whom he dated from 2008 to 2010. From there, it seemed things soured between Drizzy and Ye, with the Toronto star even being removed from West’s “All of the Lights“ when it dropped in November 2010. Drake would even suggest years later he may have had a romantic involvement with West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian in the September 2021 track “Pipe Down“ during her marriage to Ye, though she has denied such rumors. Despite their joint concert just months later, the two never fully moved beyond their issues.
