On June 9, cops were called to a San Clemente, California home, and arrested former NBA Player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s son Adam Abdul-Jabbar after his neighbor accused him of attacking and stabbing him during an argument.
Now, the neighbor, Raymond Winsor, 60, has filed a lawsuit claiming the incident left him with a skull fracture and bleeding from the brain, TMZ reports. Winsor is suing for an undisclosed amount.
According to TMZ sports, the entire incident started after Winsor urged Abdul-Jabbar to help his elderly grandmother with chores. This upset him and caused him to lash out. The lawsuit claims Abdul-Jabbar told Winsor to “shut your f***ing mouth, or I’m gonna stick this knife through your teeth and cut your throat out.”
Winsor claims that is when he was stabbed seven times in the head, neck, back, and side, causing major damage. He says he stayed in the hospital for three days and was treated for a skull fracture and subdural hematoma.
The lawsuit also claims he suffers from shock, anxiety, worry, sleeplessness, depression, etc. He seeks payment for his medical expenses, plus additional damages.
TMZ reached out to Abdul-Jabbar’s representatives but received no comment. However, multiple sources linked to the incident said Winsor had been “needling” Adam for some time now, and the tension had been building for “a long time.”
Adam Abdul-Jabbar was the one who contacted the police that day and has been cooperative with authorities, the outlet claims. There have been no criminal charges against Abdul-Jabbar at this time.
