Karen Huger, aka the “Grand Dame” of the “Real Housewives of Potomac” might be on thin ice with Bravo.
Following her recent DUI conviction, the network reportedly expects her to “clean up her act” if she wants to remain part of the franchise, Page Six exclusively reports. Season 9 is airing now, so her spot is safe for the moment, but insiders say her status for Season 10 could be in jeopardy if she doesn’t turn things around.
Back in March, Huger crashed her Maserati into a median and a crosswalk sign. Thankfully, no one was injured. This week, a jury found her guilty of DUI, negligent driving, and other charges after five hours of deliberation. However, she was cleared of reckless driving. Police bodycam footage from the night of her arrest shows her husband, Ray, responding to the scene and trying to help Huger locate her license. She also refused a breathalyzer and field sobriety test. Later in the evening, Huger used profanity toward the officers and even told them, “I’m lit,” shortly before being escorted into the jail.
The 61-year-old had previously requested the footage be left out of the trial, though her motion was denied. Her attorneys also asked for charges to be dropped, another filing that was rejected by the court. This isn’t Huger’s first DUI, having received probation for her first one over a decade ago.
Bravo hasn’t made any official decisions yet, but it’s clear the Grand Dame has some damage control to do if she wants to keep holding her spot. She will be sentenced next month.
