Keegan-Michael Key, best known for his role in Comedy Central’s sketch comedy series Key & Peele, will host a new sports game show titled ‘Game On’ on CBS.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the show will be based on a British show, ‘A League of Their Own,’ that is hosted by James Corden, who teamed up with CBS to make this possible. The new show will be a blend of sports trivia and physical challenges with tennis star Venus Williams and NFL player Rob Gronkowski serving as “team captains.” Comedian Bobby Lee and Ian Karmel, writer of the ‘Late Late Show,’ will participate as panelists.
“We are so delighted to be making this show with CBS,” Executive Producer Ben Winston said in a statement. “We couldn’t have found a better host and partner in Keegan, and I can’t wait to see Gronk and Venus as we’ve never seen them before, going head to head in some epic yet ridiculous battles.”
The show will have teams of three with Williams and Gronkowski as captains along with Lee, Karmel, and other celebrities and athletes serving as the third captain. They will compete in outrageous challenges and answer sports-related questions.
CBS has not officially confirmed a date for the premiere of ‘Game On.’
