Keisha Lance Bottoms is officially stepping back into the political spotlight, announcing her campaign for Georgia governor in 2026.
The former Atlanta mayor dropped her campaign video Tuesday morning, opening up about her roots, her family, and her vision for a better Georgia—while holding no punches for Donald Trump. She called his leadership a “disaster,” pointing to rising prices, weakened Social Security and Medicare, and his impact on Georgia’s economy, especially the Port of Savannah and job cuts at the CDC in Atlanta.
Bottoms, who’s held high-profile roles at the DNC and in former President Biden’s administration, says Georgia’s been hit hard by Trump’s decisions. Now, she’s ready to lead the state in a new direction.
Her platform includes expanding Medicaid, backing up first responders and teachers, cracking down on corporate landlords who hike rent, and making it easier for young folks to get into college or trade careers.
If she wins, Bottoms would become Georgia’s first Black woman governor—something she says isn’t just historic, but necessary. “Everything Trump does touches Georgia,” she said. “From your job to your retirement account, we all feel it.”
Now she’s betting voters are ready for a change.
