Former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms is officially putting her name back into the political conversation.
On Monday, Bottoms confirmed that she filed the necessary paperwork to form a campaign committee, a major step toward launching a run for Georgia governor.
Speaking with Channel 2’s Karyn Greer, Bottoms shared that she feels “honored and humbled” by the overwhelming encouragement she’s received as she weighs a gubernatorial bid. While she hasn’t made a formal announcement yet, Bottoms said supporters won’t have to wait long, as she’s planning to share her decision “in the coming weeks.”
Best known for her leadership as Atlanta’s mayor from 2018 to 2022, Bottoms built her political career after serving on the Atlanta City Council. Her potential entry into the Georgia governor’s race would instantly make her a major contender and inject fresh energy into the Democratic field.
As the political season heats up, all eyes are now on Bottoms as she prepares to make her next big move.
