Keke Palmer’s baby daddy Darius Jackson is reflecting on his decision to join the U.S. Army following their tumultuous relationship.
On April 3rd, Jackson shared an Instagram update, revealing that the move has been a transformative one for him.
“Joining the Army at my big age of 30 was random but much needed,” Jackson wrote, adding, “The more I pray, the more God has given me the clarity that this has been the best decision I have made for myself.”
While acknowledging the difficulty of being away from his son, Leodis “Leo” Andrellton Jackson, and the challenges of Army training, Jackson emphasized how his age has provided him with the patience and wisdom to handle the tough times: “I HATE being away from Leodis & I HATE TRADOC! However, being older has allowed me to have so much patience & wisdom to get me through some of these rough times.”
Jackson ended his post by speaking about redemption, noting, “My story is FAR from complete but the foundation is set.”
His words come nearly two years after a turbulent period with Palmer, including a heated child custody battle and accusations of domestic abuse. Despite the tension, Jackson and Palmer made amends for the sake of their young son.
Palmer, who has been promoting her memoir “Master of Me: The Secret to Controlling Your Narrative,” expressed her pride in Jackson’s decision to join the military. “I feel very at ease now knowing things are under control,” she told People.
