Kellogg Company Has Revealed The Names Of The New Companies That Will Emerge Following Its Planned Separation

Kellogg Company has revealed the names of the two distinct entities it plans to divide into.

The company announced in a press release on Wednesday that its North American cereal business will be named WK Kellogg Co following the proposed separation. The name is inspired by one of the founders of Kellogg Company. The second entity will be named Kellanova and will oversee the snacking, international cereal and noodles, and plant-based foods. In addition, Kellanova will also manage the North American frozen breakfast business, which includes brands like Pringles, Cheez-It, Morningstar Farms, Eggo, Zucaritas, and Coco Pops.

“The ‘Kell’ overtly recognizes our enduring connection to Kellogg Company. While ‘anova,’ which combines ‘a’ and the Latin word ‘nova,’ meaning ‘new,’ signals our ambition to continuously evolve as an innovative, next generation global snacking powerhouse,” Kellogg Company CEO Steve Cahillane said.

The decision to split the company comes just a month after Kellogg announced it would retain its plant-based food division instead of selling it or creating a separate entity for it. This was a shift from June 2022, when Kellogg had planned to divide into three separate businesses.

“Given current market conditions as well as our confidence in this business as a long-term growth vehicle, we have decided to retain it as part of Global Snacking Company,” Cahillane said back in February.

Nevertheless, products from the companies will continue to have the Kellogg’s brand on its packaging.
