From American Idol to daytime talk show host, Kelly Clarkson has officially landed a new gig, at the expense of veteran television host, Steve Harvey.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Clarkson’s “The Kelly Clarkson Show” talk show has been picked up by NBC, set to premiere in the fall of 2019.
“I love connecting with people, playing games, music and finding ways to help or give back to communities/organizations,” Clarkson said of her new hourlong show. “Having my own talk show where I get to do all of these things is pretty much a dream job.”
The show is set to air as a lead-in to Ellen Degeneres’, “Ellen,” replacing Harvey’s self-titled talk show, “Steve,” in 10 of the 11 NBC markets, except Boston.
“We are very excited to have Kelly Clarkson on our air next fall,” president of NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations said. “She’s genuine, warm, fun and interacts with her fans in a meaningful way. Throughout her career people of all ages and backgrounds have related to her openness, honesty, and curiosity. She will be the perfect companion to Ellen, providing an afternoon of great television.”
According to the publication, the show has been described as a “weekday brunch party,” with celebrity guests, “surprises, humor, heart, music and remarkable stories.”
