Kellyanne Conway, a longtime adviser to former President Donald Trump, and her husband, George T. Conway III, have decided to end their 22-year marriage.
Page Six was the first to report the news, citing D.C. insiders with knowledge of the situation. According to the outlet, both sides have retained lawyers and are ready to work out the details of the divorce. The couple shares four children.Â
This brings a close to the political odd couple’s strange marriage, which saw the couple constantly at odds during Trump’s time in office. Kellyanne was a staunch supporter of the president, while George was one of his most outspoken critics.
Kellyanne has publicly spoken out about her husband, writing in her 2022 memoir that her husband’s public criticism had strained their marriage. She noted that George was “cheating by tweeting.”
Following the news of the couple’s impending divorce, Trump congratulated Kellyanne on her “divorce from her wacko husband” on his Truth Social platform.Â
“Free at last, she has finally gotten rid of the disgusting albatross around her neck,” he wrote. “She is a great person, and will now be free to lead the kind of life that she deserves…and it will be a great life without the extremely unattractive loser by her side!”
Both Kellyanne and George stepped away from the spotlight to focus on their family last year after their daughter, Claudia, began posting about their strange family dynamic on social media. Claudia also took a step back, saying that she and Kellyanne benefited from therapy attending together.Â
Sources told the outlet that Kellyanne and George tried to work on their marriage but have decided to split. Another source said rumors have swirled for months about the couple’s divorce.Â
