Kendrick Lamar Leads BET Awards 2025 With 10 Nominations as BET Celebrates 25 Years of Culture’s Biggest Night

BET just revealed the nominations for the BET Awards 2025, and it’s a celebration of Black excellence across music, film, TV, and sports like never before. Kendrick Lamar leads the pack with an impressive 10 nominations, followed closely by Doechii, Drake, Future, and GloRilla, each earning six nods. Visionary producer Metro Boomin picks up five, while SZA and The Weeknd follow with four nominations apiece.

This year’s nominees reflect the full spectrum of creativity and influence across the culture. The nominations were selected by the BET Voting Academy, made up of respected entertainment professionals across music, media, sports, and the creative arts.

Kendrick’s 10 nominations include Album of the Year for GNX, Video of the Year for “Not Like Us,” and three nods in Viewer’s Choice for “Not Like Us,” “Luther” with SZA, and “Like That” with Future and Metro Boomin. He’s also nominated for Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Best Collaboration, and Video Director of the Year with Dave Free.

Doechii makes a powerful showing with six nominations, including Album of the Year for Alligator Bites Never Heal, Video of the Year and Viewer’s Choice for “Denial is a River,” plus Best Collaboration, Best Female Hip Hop Artist, and BET Her.

Drake’s six nominations include Album of the Year for $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, Video of the Year for “Family Matters,” Viewer’s Choice, and nods for Best Group with PartyNextDoor, Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, and Best Male Hip Hop Artist.

Future earns six as well, sharing honors with Metro Boomin and Kendrick on Like That and We Don’t Trust You, plus Best Group, Best Collaboration, Viewer’s Choice, and Best Male Hip Hop Artist.

GloRilla continues her rise with nominations for Album of the Year (Glorious), Viewer’s Choice (“TGIF”), Best Collaboration, Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award, BET Her, and Best Female Hip Hop Artist.

SZA and The Weeknd each earned four nominations, and Ayra Starr, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Maverick City Music, Playboi Carti, Teddy Swims, and Tyler, The Creator earned three each.

The 25th anniversary show will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Monday, June 9 at 8 PM ET/PT. Connie Orlando, EVP of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET, and Jamal Noisette, SVP of Tentpoles & Music Community Engagement, will executive produce the show, alongside Jesse Collins Entertainment.

Voting for the Viewer’s Choice Award will open soon.
